Its funny. I still refer to Canvey Way as the New Road off the Island. I think it must have been 1977 that it was completed, as during the Summer of this year, I spend my Summer Holidays in Germany. Suffering from a very bad case of Sun burn, I saw on German TV that Elis Presley had died. (This was on Aug 16 1977).

On the way back from my summer hols, we came back over the New Canvey Bridge and this was my first experience of it.
